About Us

Southern Comfort Berry Farm is located in a small farming community known as the 7th District in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. The people around here are “down to earth” folks, always willing to lend a hand.

The strawberry farm is owned and operated by the Ritchey and Cullins families.

Kari was raised in southern Maryland. Her family farm, located 25 minutes north in Bryantown, dates back to the first land grants given out by Lord Baltimore. Her home farm now is in 7th District where their strawberry farm originated. Kari opened that farm in 2006.

The Cullins farm is also in the 7th District. It was originally a tobacco farm, but they now grow corn, soy beans, and wheat.

In 2020, the farm was moved and expanded to the waterfront where the Potomac and Wicomico rivers meet.

Together, the families in the 7th District, established this new strawberry farm out of love for farming and a deep and personal appreciation for this way of life .

They all work together to provide you with the best produce and products. Both families strive to do their part to ensure their customers have a wonderful experience as they enjoy the fruits of their labors.

“This area is rich in farming history,” says Kari. “We are proud to be the next generation.”

“We work our farm as a family. We talk about our goals and how we want to grow. We strongly believe that we need to keep the agriculture community alive and growing, and one way we can do that is by inviting our guests to enjoy our farming experience.”

“Our visitors are our guests, and we’d love to have you come often. We look forward to inviting you onto our lush strawberry farm.”
